DBA (Database Administrator) in DBMS
DBA (Database Administrator) is a person or a group of
person that controls databases. DBA is also known as database analyst or
database developer. Database administrator is responsible for creating successful
database. A DBA (Database administrator) designs and maintains databases. A DBA
has many responsibilities including security of databases, keep the database up
to date and so on.
A DBA must be experienced on working with database
management systems such as SQL, Oracle etc.
Roles of DBA (Database Administrator) in DBMS
- DBA (Database administrator) decides how database is stored on physical storage.
- DBA defines conceptual schema of database. DBA decides logical structure of database, for example, how tables are related to each other.
- DBA provides an authentication and authorization mechanism to user.
- DBA must backup the database and DBA is able to recover the database.
- DBA decides which user to give what access. DBA decides which user is able to modify data, delete data from database and so on.
- Role of DBA is to keep the database up to date.
- DBA provides a strategic database direction for the organization.
